I have been a freelance Artist for 10 years, my full portfolio can be found at www.martinlynchsmith.com. I began working in Art in 2002 at the age of 21 for a local sports artwork company, In 2005 I started a HND in Fine Arts which led to a BA from the University of Huddersfield in 2009. Ever since graduating I have taken up portraiture and fantasy Art as my main source of work. I have always been interested in Fantasy Art and landscape Art and sought to merge the two to create dytopian fantasy scenes depicting a figurative element. I have been working on a series entitled ‘Inevitability’ in between commissions, this series  encompasses the restrictions made by mankind upon its body in conjunction to the environment it is encapsulated by. I intend to invoke a sense of  incarceration within some of my paintings, wheras others I wish to create a sence of emancipation. The ethics surrounding the series bring an emotive concept of inevitable freedom from the boundaries mankind creates for itself, and the way it is immersed and often fixed into position by its surroundings. I utilise the essence of landscape and space which then in turn is used as a foundation in which to create symbolic figurative imagery using the elements of body, Earth and space.
